Aaghh PAS pipe split and fluid everywhere
Daisy (‘58 2.4 60k) made strange steering noises on way to work today, steering itself no more vague than normal. Had a peek and minimal fluid in the reservoir and lots on the underside of the truck 👍 hose has split. So have ordered new hoses etc and going to replace, but my qs is - is it ok to drive home? Thinking more about the pump health, know steering will be heavy but that’s OK as used to Series life! It’s only about 9-10miles, can leave it tonight and put more fluid in (tape hose fwiw), but would rather not pollute Daisy’s bottom and the world if I don’t have too.
Thanks in anticipation, thought I was about due something 😞 2.4TDCI 90 - everyday brilliance

Not really. There are two issues, firstly running the pump with no fluid will destroy it. Secondly PAS fluid is highly flammable and there is a risk that you will incinerate the vehicle and yourself.
