300 tdi Power Loss
A work colleague has a 300 tdi that is suffering from power loss. Can anyone suggest what the common causes maybe. It does not want to go faster than 70 miles per hour. It sounds ok and does not blow black or white smoke.

my memory is hazy but i think it was my old 300 which had a split in the head gasket that caused intermitant power loss.

Without any unusual smoking, I'd vote for the lift pump too. Darren

i would go down the road of cleaning out the intercooler and intake manafold as this is one thing that can and will strangle the power of a tdi

Are all the IC hoses connected correctly, If you have a boost leak this will cause a lack of power too, with no obvious side effects You cant polish a turd!
