If it's of any help......
Love the psudo-science here! Natural gas - methane or propane (rarely butane) feed in stocks are converted via the Fischer–Tropsch process which involves a catalyst to a "hydrocarbon wax" with a carbon chain range of 2 carbons to 7 carbons long, vary the conditions will vary the ouput product. This is then converted to a more useable product by further processing (eg: hydrogenation) The F-T process is being used for replacement fuels for transport, since if the feedstock is from a non-fossil source then the product while is CO2 producing, it is a non-fossil carbon fuel with similar conbustion properties to the fossil equivelant Yes it is more pure base stock since it is easier to purify a gas stream than a liquid stream. and the fewer impurities will lead to less interferance between the molecular interaction (dipole, van-der-waals, hydogen, ionic, I would not use the word bond) Is it "carbon neutral" depends on the the source of the nat. gas, the energy required to perform the F-T process and refining steps. Also consider the transport, packing and rest of the carbon footprint aspects.
