Folks,
Factory tour - sometime mid/late November - anyone interested?? I know there were a good few that couldn't make the April trip that AndrewS organised. I've had a quick chat with LRE and basics as follows... • Bronze tour (factory tour only) - 3 hours long and runs weekdays 9am or 1pm (only 9am on Friday) • LRE tell me the cost of the tour is £45 per person but a group of 10 or more this could reduce to £30 per person. • We can tailor the tour on the day to suit us so can go full on Defender or a mixture of the lines • Max 9 folks per tour guide (H&S) but if a bigger group, can be accomodated with multiple guides...if we all in agreement on what to see • On site food option is expensive (£20 per head), so reckon we find boozer with big carpark for post tour natter etc etc. • Assuming nobody can be arsed with the offroading experiences that can be bolted on (Silver or Gold tours).... If you are then I'd leave that for you to organise directly. So at this stage, please just post if you'd be up for it in principle so that I can get a handle on numbers etc and then availabilty . I like the idea of a Friday morning tour...an early start but..... fun way to end the week http://www.landrover.com/gl/en/lr/experien.../solihull/ Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. Just up the road from me I would recommend you go to the Boat Pub (good size car park) in Kathryn de Barnes for lunch typical pub fayre at typical prices but never dissapointed me, about 2.5 miles from the factory
I visited the factory in February and saw the defender line, didnt appriciate RR and D4 until I visited I do now, well worth a visit, if you can fit it in I would do the heritage centre at Gaydon on the same day about 30/35 miles away south, and take a quick trip to Edge Hill (Avon Dassett off road course is up there somewhere but never done it) another 4 miles or so south. ps will try to join you all for lunch if I can Enjoy DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy Last edited by LR90XS2011 on 28th Sep 2011 8:45pm. Okay folks that have expressed an interest.........
9am on Friday 18th November 2011 .. Suggested date for the tour. Have pencilled in 12 provisional spaces with LRE at the mo.... Could this work for you? I think I can shave a smidge more off the prices but work on £30 (10+ going) or £45 (less than 10 going) per person for now. Nothing is confirmed at the moment but to secure the 10+ space discount LRE are looking for a block payment for the spaces rather than payments from the inviduals (they tell me there were problems last time). Heads up for a bit of mutual trust time I think.... Will sort that out when numbers are clearer. Worse case... My extended family get a factory tour for Christmas Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Thanks for organising Jon, 18th definitely OK for me also, could meet you somewhere for a petrol share, maybe Honker also if going the same direction, possibly a service station as I know Honker likes a service station or two How do you want paying?

Thanks for the quick responses guys....
What I'm thinking is that providing I get a strong indication that 10+ will go I will firm book and pay for the spaces. Then I'd ask folk to pay me a 50% non refundable deposit and then the balance on the day. Obviously a bit of mutual trust on both sides. I'm just counting me as 1 space at the mo but if needed to keep numbers up for the discount, I can include family/mates with LR's too. If folk want to double check the provisional booking with LRE, they are most welcome to....
