Looking at the configurator, one thing that made me laugh was the ‘Personalised Handover’ for £1,300 or there abouts……
So a bunch of flowers for the missus, a reach around and a video of the owner driving away from the dealership with a countdown in the corner showing the value of the vehicle deprecating as it drives away……… |

£1,300 extra, just to be treated differently to all the other plebs spending £80k+ on a vehicle.
Those people really do deserve to have their money taken off them. Those trainers... |

Can you take a supposed professional designer seriously when they dress to make an important presentation like that? Does he have a cupboard full of black polo neck jumpers as that’s all we ever seem to see him wearing on launch nights or does he get them from George at Asda specially for launch announcements………... Not cool and not professional. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

As soon as I saw him at the start of the video I had to stop watching immediately, he just turns my stomach and makes me want to retch 🥵🤮

I have nothing against the car, I do not aspire to own one. There is nothing wrong with brand DNA but it seems the new defender excepted all the other models share the same design to the point I cant tell the difference! Back in the day a freelander/discovery/range rover had an identity of their own and a price range to reach different budgets.
If that design ever falls out of fashion thats the whole fleet gone!! 1984 One-Ten CSW 2010 XS USW (sold) 1957 Series One 88 diesel 1958 Series One 88 4x2 |

I would be more interested in learning about the technicalities of driving up the slipway than listening to the pompous marketing drivel spewing forth from Mr McGovan.
It all looked very dramatic but I wonder how much of it was for real and how much was digitally enhanced? On face value, it looked like a highly risky stunt with no escape route should things go wrong. I did wonder if the vehicle was remotely controlled for the main slipway drive. Hopefully in time, there will be more information on how the video was put together. @The-hog. Have you seen the slipway 1st hand in your beautiful country and do you think driving up it as shown would be possible? [/b] |

If you remember back to the RRS being driven up all those steps in China……it was on a winch line, I am guessing to stop in falling back in the case of an accident.
But if you want to be cynical…… |

Saw a 1946 film last night and one of the lines was
"I cannot tell the difference in any cars made since 1924". Seems like he had a foresight of the new Land Rover line up . 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

Dig out the brochures for the 90/110 or even the Defender and you will see how much of a direction the marketing and the target audience has changed. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

The comments persuaded me to take a look at the video (I couldn't stomach it all, but clicked through some "highlights").
If I had been thinking of buying one of these, after seeing the launch video I would no longer be! What an appalling and cringe-worthy production! I do also see what Muddybigdog means about the ears, those ears must be prosthetic, surely? |
