Cubby box / Tray recommendations
So by way of background, I have the factory xs cubby box but I’ve added a 100mm tall electrics box underneath. If and when I put the cubby box back on top, it’ll be 100mm higher. I’ve been indecisive about putting the cubby box back on top.

I know a lot of people are happy with a taller cubby, e.g with a padded lid.. however for me I find I much prefer to have less of a downward angle to the gear stick. Secondly, I’m finding I really like the additional space of not having the cubby there, the cabin feels a lot more spacious.

However, I’ve lost a bunch of storage! I also use the cup holders a lot.

So I’m considering my options,

- build my own, 100mm lower cubby with cup holders.. less storage? But more than not having a cubby
- some sort of tray(non xs spec?), with cup holders - nice and low.. but no enclosed storage
- buy some off the shelf cubby that isn’t as tall.. are there any??
- stick with the standard cubby and put up with it being ‘too high’

Does anyone have any suggestions for alternate cubby boxes that are less high, or other weird and wonderful storage/ cup holder solutions? 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2

Not strictly what you asked but just to make you aware of some products that are available which might do what you want

Original equipment cubby tray which more or less satisfies your option 2 (tray with cup holders) - there is one on ebay at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133423883617

And if you require enclosed storage you could consider the glovebox conversion. There are many variations of this on the market, one example being https://defenderupgrades.co.uk/product/def...glove-box/ > 110 XS Double Cab
