Adding rear windows
Hello all
I am looking at a hardtop defender that doesn’t have the two small rear windows

I know this can be done as a diy job but I wouldn’t want to start cutting away on a new to me car

Any idea how much someone liked twisted would charge as they are quite close to me or can anyone recommend someone

Someone like Twisted would charge you around 4 times what a good independent specialist would for any job.

Sorry can't recommend anyone, but there are a few around the Thirsk, York area.

Have you bought it as a commercial though a business? If so it must remain as a van.

Trek Overland would do it for you and are reasonably priced. Madison 4x4 the same, Patrick is a nice bloke and fair prices. There is also Ripon 4x4 at Dalton as well. They are good guys. All three will do you a good job. Labour wise, I wouldn’t expect to pay more than £300, give or take.

Twisted will cost you and arm and a leg, as will LR Motors at thirsk.

Remember also that those two tiny rear-facing windows provide the easiest and most popular way to break in to a hardtop Defender. No way would I fit them to a vehicle which didn't have them.

I have a 110 Utility - no small rear windows, no side rear body windows, I had thought of fitting windows in both loaction for a few months after I had got it, till somebody told me about the security issue - people can look in and see whats in the back and gives an easy (easier) access.

The lack of the rear windows is not an issue, just you the side mirrors, and over the shoulder check more to improve the situational awareness. Zaid-M

Thanks for everyone’s comments

It will be through my business but I don’t think adding the small windows effect the commercial side of it. Seats on the other hand may be another issue

Spoke to stagshaw in Newcastle today , rough estimate was £600 + VAT
The parts alone are nearly £400

My DC has an IW canopy with a solid flap so my only rear view is the two external mirrors. Every time I drive at night I am grateful for this, due to the ludicrous headlights on modern cars, especially those with adaptive beams. I will never, ever, have a rear window again if I can avoid it!
