Gutting. I'm acutely aware that any of us could wake up one morning to find the same. Hope it's found or you get a fair insurance payout > 110 XS Double Cab

Thanks. This is my first ever claim so to be honest I'm not really sure what to expect.
I've seen many threads over the years on insurance, cheap versus service etc etc and for that reason I have always paid a bit more and gone with NFU. Now is the time I'll find out if that was a good decision..... |

yeah indeed to say the least.
Security was just factory standard although it has smartwater which just made me realise I perhaps need to do something there... |

seems quite a few get 'parked' within a reasonable distance to see if they have trackers and such fitted so might be worth having a ride around your local area??

Agreed although I'm sort of reluctant to advertise my Series 2 in the process....
What's the usual process here, is it usual to get a payout and then what? Do I sort of need ti resign myself to the fact that that's it and the likelihood of me getting a Defender the same condition etc etc as mine with no financial impact is pretty low? |

Don’t resign yourself to it being lost, but prepare for your discussions with your insurance company.
So did you have an agreed value policy with your insurer? If not do a few searches on the net with reputable dealers to see if they have similar age , spec, mileage, condition, etc vehicles to yours. Take note of the prices they are asking and screenshots of the web pages, specs prices etc. This gives you a value for your vehicle and will assist in negotiations with insurance company. Worth using we buy any car to see what they value at, this can be random but if in your favour you can use that as evidence. Look at the car insurance ombudsman site to understand your rights Noting their statement - “Most complaints involve disagreements about the market value of the vehicle. The market value is the price the vehicle would have sold for at a reputable dealership just before it was damaged or stolen.” https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/bus...write-offs https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/bus...icle-theft All this is worthwhile prep for the worst case but I really hope it gets recovered quickly with no damage. |

scotty, get pictures out on local have your say groups on facebook, get it as hot as sodding possible! check local areas that are known for cars to be ragged etc, like local fields/ denes etc. I will put money that its still in the area and its been very local arseholes that's took it.
I know what its like, as i got a visit 7 days into the new year of 2019, the car was found days later, about 2 miles away from me, in a local dene, that is a 4x4 grave yard. Keep your chin up pal, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |
