My new Defender
Just got my first Defender last Friday and have spent the past few days giving it a lick and brush up. It’s a 2008 Puma with one previous lady owner Whistle

So far; thorough under body inspection and clean. No sign of any LR attempt to seal or wax the underside so lots of light surface rust; this was treated with Dinotrol spray on rust converter. This leaves a lovely surface ready for waxing. I decided not to use good old Waxoyle instead using modern Dinotrol cavity wax followed by Dinotrol under body wax. This stuff is amazing and easy to spray on using my compressor, two days of Defender dancing on and off blocks and axle stands and I now have a brand new looking underside.

The body panels were treated to two deep cleans followed by claying of the paintwork to get it super smooth. Then a gentle machine polish just to get out some of the light swirls from previous poor washing. A deeper machine polish will happen next spring to correct the paint properly. This was followed by Colinite 476 wax coat and the ubiquitous detail spray. Resulting in a very clean, shiny body.

The interior has also been vacuumed and all mats removed to check floor panels and get rid of previous owners Jack Russel hairs. All the vents and controls have been brushed and plenty of plastic dressing applied so the inside looks very spicy indeed.

The alloy mesh at the bottom of the radiator grill was chipped and corroded so I drilled out the pop rivets, removed the mesh, rubbed it down and resprayed it before replacing it back in the grill. Now on the lookout for a nice stainless steel one if anybody know where I can get it?

Ohh, nearly forgot, the engine bay has also had a make over and looks like it just came out of the factory. All this in four days and the final result is one very sorted looking base Defender. Now I need a few little add ons and it’s ready to play.
Mr. Green

Welcome Mermoto Thumbs Up Good looking Defender. It looks as though you've done a good job on getting it up to scratch. Is that Heybridge Basin in the background?
