You're not wrong. It is a good stab at a low budget no frills EV 4x4. I actually quite like it for those reasons, but as you point out the range is a little poor for anyone that has to drive a long way to remote locations for work, such as forestry or surveying. Good effort though.

The fact that the base vehicle is manufactured in Russia, then converted to EV, must limit it's appeal and the prospect of obtaining spare parts.

Yes, right now the Russian origin is a tad difficult... In Finland a range of spare parts for UAZ vehicles are still available, due to the Finnish army having used them in the past. But I imagine that will become more difficult with time, unless the Russian situation makes a turn for the better.
Still, I'm desperately on the lookout for basic, honest EVs with bolt on bits. I drive a Model 3 Tesla at the moment, and it's a great vehicle, but doesn't speak to me emotionally and if I owned and it was out of warranty, it I'd be constantly worried some expensive and delicate bit would break, and with little possibilities of do any maintenance or upgrades yourself or with a 3rd party garage. Plus I need some proper ground clearance again! |
