I’m really sorry to hear about your bad luck.
I haven’t got any direct personal experience but there are many on here who will provide you with a good insight into the options available to you. My guess, based on what I’ve read and heard only, is that the Turner’s option would be a very safe bet. Let’s wait for those that know to provide their feedback |

I can only speak for my own experience, and I fully accept lots of people have a very high opinion of Turner:
My 110 with a previous owner had a turner rebuild suffer a bottom end failure after ~5k miles. The replacement was warranted, then after 21000 miles, that engine dropped it's timing chain. It looks like the oil pump sprocket bolt fell out. Mike |

Sorry! There are now enough rotten Discovery 2's in the world that 2nd Hand engines are fairly cheap though.

Not at all, I just wanted to know as many of the pros and cons to a remanufactured short engine before either chancing it with a second hand engine or selling the other kidney.

I've just suffered from what appears to be a pretty major engine failure....a valve fell into the combustion chamber and mangled the head, piston, fired bits into (and killed) the turbo...I am hoping my bottom end is salvageable but waiting to see.
I looked at Turners full rebuilt engine, but at £10K fitted it was simply too much to justify, when I could drop a donor in for a few hundred quid. I actually ended up choosing to get the engine rebuilt, so I bought a donor from a guy on here, and took the car and engine to a guy that rebuilds land rover engines. Hoping to have the car back in a few weeks. Probably going to cost around £3K to have the best bits of two engines put back together with all new bearings, gaskets etc. Shout if you want the details of the guy I am using...also I may end up having a spare crank and bottom end if you want to go down that route. I may be able to get them aquablasted and cleaned up too... Best of luck! |

Cooperracer05 - would that be this one?
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1819435178...895127465/ A low mileage TD5 I got in this week for a refurb. A valve broke up and made quite a mess of the piston. The head is toast unfortunately. The block may be salvageable. Just 30k or so on this 18P engine, apparently. |
