Hi Guys, i hope that i have this terminology correct. The rail, immediately above the cross member is showing signs of corrosion. I can repair, however i would rather replace completely. You can obtain the part but im not too sure how you would go about removing the old unit. Unscrewing the 8 screws is obviously straight forward but the rail looks too long to slide out. Has anyone done this or have experience please? Thanks

AFAIK, it's necessary to remove (or at least lift) the tub to replace that part. Darren

It is possible to raise the back body enough to wangle it out and then fit a galvanised replacement. If you have a Staition Wagon you will need to remove the seatbelt and second row seat fixings to give enough body movement. Not the nicest task but well worth it because the corroading steel angle will eventually destroy the alloy body section.
