I used my impact wrench with succes. There is always a chance that it snap but I find that with an impact wrench you have more luck getting them loose then with brute force. Roel

How did you managed to actually fit the impact gun in there? For the life of me I can get it in there.... unless you used a very long extension and go from underneath?

from my experience with my 300TDi, i had to double up on extensions just to get the length, I used a breaker on mine, but i think someone had already been there before. As the manifold and inlet was loose.
![]() My dad bought a two impact guns, on battery and the other electric, i even bought another one for the larger 3/4 sockets. These have been pure gold on rattling off bolts, rather than having a go with a breaker. I've always found it easier from underneath with a few extension bars, you can then use a breaker bar or impact gun if needed. You may want a UJ or a wobble end to get there but it's easy to do. 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop 1989 300Tdi 90 Soft top 1992 200Tdi 90 Truck cab with Land Cruiser axles |

Get them bloody hot with a long run, then a spanner on them.

Did you get this sorted?
Like others ^^^ I use 2 or 3 long extension bars and a standard ratchet from underneath. The first time I did it, I actually filled plastic domed nut covers with releasing oil and left them on the turbo/downpipe flange nuts for a week… It appeared to work. I always replace with new copper locking nuts and plenty of copper grease (which probably burns off) but the second time it was a doddle. Sadly I’ve had a few downpipe changes over the years. |
