My New Defender - Are they any good for Overlanding?
Hi all,

I hope this is allowed here. if not please let me know.

I picked up my New Defender last Thursday and I have started, well I am attempting (I am far from experienced with this sort of thing), a YouTube series on my experience with the New Defender and whether or not it can be modified and used for Overloading in Southern Africa.

Here is the link:

Please could I ask for your input and even some ideas and recommendations. Ive been binge watching Powerful UK for some inspiration and have a lot of ideas from them so will be ordering some parts when they have stock, but any other ideas would be great.

Thank you. "Overlanding With Bruce" - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@OverlandingwithBruce

Great videos Bruce, amazing scenery as is always the case for those outside of (far too crowded) Europe. And if there is only one reason for liking the ND, as yet another averaged sized South African, space in the cabin has to be up there. Good luck with the new YouTube hobby and with the future overlanding adventures. Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Iā€˜m eagerly waiting for your next video: Fridge plus cb areal mount.
Though I life in the heart of Europe no real nice places to do overlanding just too crowded.
I just upgraded my ND with roof tent, kitchen utilities from my 24ā€œ former sailing boat.
For Xmas got 2 Front Runner Wolf boxes. Still looking for a good cb antenna mount (ordered one from Ray RLD mounts). Next comes Tuff Ant Steelies plus Cooper Mud Tyres Wintertype.
And probably a Dometic fridge.
Have fun in the big outland. 22MY Defender 110 (actual) | 10MY Freelander 2 (history) | 15MY Discovery Sport HSE (history)

Thanks very much for the support. Hopefully will have it up in the next week or so. Will post a link here when itā€™s up.

Share some pictures of your vehicle please. Would be great to see what you have done.

I am a big fan of the National Luna fridges which I have been using for many years without any issues. So will probably go for the same.
I am also planning a packing system but will show that when itā€™s done. "Overlanding With Bruce" - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@OverlandingwithBruce

Great videos Bruce, if you are not already a member of the ā€œAll new Defender owners groupā€
on FB, it is worth joining to get a global aspect on how owners are preparing their NDā€™s for
off road adventures. There are a few other ND groups on there as well

Hi Bruce

Wonderful landscapes. Enjoyed your video. I can't wait for your next video with all the gadgets on the trailer. But the Suzuki does look great too. Thx. 22MY Defender 110 (actual) | 10MY Freelander 2 (history) | 15MY Discovery Sport HSE (history)

Thank you Cyberhusky. I am busy editing it now and its a massive task. The biggest Ive done so far so hope i dont mess it up Smile The trailer may be in episode 3 though as episode 2 maybe too long as I cover the New Defender and the Jimny. Still trying to edit it. "Overlanding With Bruce" - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@OverlandingwithBruce

Hey Bruce, great video and love the country and your comments. Been in SA 2x and it's just soooo great.
I have the same issue with the door and engine warning bings and bongs....
If you find out how to stop it that would be amazing.

Thanks very much Andreas. if I find out I will share here. For the seat belt ive been told to switch the ignition on but don't start the motor and then plug and unplug the seat belt in 10 times and you will then here a bong and it will be off.
It doesn't work on mine but apparently works on some models. "Overlanding With Bruce" - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@OverlandingwithBruce
