Windscreen wiper issues...
Hello folks.

So my wipers don't 'Park' which I believe could be the parking switch.

Also, intermittent and normal speed work OK but fast doesn't- See video.

2008 Puma 110 DC.

Any ideas?

Thanks 👍🏻

When my park switch broke (52 TD5) the normal and fast settings worked fine, it was the intermittent and parking which failed. That is not to say that the park switch isnt broken for you, but might just have different symptoms but the same cause. It is a very cheap part to replace though if you want to diagnose through replacement. A bit of a faff to replace in a puma or 2002- TD5, you need to remove the majority of the dash.

Getting to the wiper motor is a nightmare.

I’ve got a similar issue where they don’t park at the bottom of the windscreen unless it’s raining and they’re nice and slippery. It feels like the motor isn’t strong enough to push them down. Aside from constantly lubricating the windscreen who knows what to do…

Calum - Exactly! If it's raining hard then they work fine however the fact that they don't go into 'Fast' mode and just intermittent or normal makes me wonder if its something more than just the park switch. They park fine if its been raining hard?!?

It is if you do it the way that those guys did, but it is wholly necessary to do that if you just want to change the wiper motor or the drive rack. It is a little more of a pain (literally) if you need to change the wheelboxes or the rigid tube, but even so you don't need to remove the dash completely.

There is a "how to" somewhere on the forum.

I might start with replacing the wipers, and a thorough scrub of the windscreen. But from everything else on here I think the motor might just be lacking and require a replacement.
