No power to starter solenoid
Good afternoon, i have an 09 plate defender, it's a 2.4 td4 L316.

The vehicle won't start, there is power to the starter from the battery, but no power to the solenoid exciter wire.
the battery is charged, the fuses ok, already had a jump cable from engine to battery earth to rule that out.

Does anyone know which relay is the starter relay?

I have a fuse box and 3 relays under the passenger seat, one i believe is the glow plug relay, ihave tried swapping 2 of the (same relays ) around, i also have another 7 relays under the dash board.

At the ignition swich, one wire is live when ignition is on, then earth when (cranked) position 3.
the other wire is earth, the goes live on position 3, so i'm guessing that's ok?

Any ideas?

Regards

There is no power going to the solenoid, so it won't crank

To rule it out (or get lucky) I'd would swap out the Ignition Switch.
(suspect legacy Lucas part known to give up)

Thanks X4SKP, I've ordered a starter relay from LR, handy to have if it doesn't fix this issue, if not i'll get onto them again and order an ignition switch.

Many thanks for your replies Smile
