Hello. Newb here. My fleet currently includes an '88 911, three BMW E28s, and a 1978 Toyota FJ40. After many years of lust, I finally added a Defender D110. His name is Mario - named by my good friend's 4 year-old son.
I've been planning a long European ski trip this Winter and a driving trip through Southern Europe in the summer. Plus there's a potential I will be living in the Netherlands (I'm nominally from the Seattle area). Instead of renting an SUV for my epic ski trip, I decided to go big and just buy a used Defender. If I end up living in Europe then I'll keep it. If not, then after my European travels are over later this year I'll sell it. I found my dream rig on an online sales site in NL and had my buddy do the inspection and purchase for me. Last week I landed at AMS and my buddy took me to his place in the Northern part of Holland where he had already started on a stereo upgrade on my behalf. I've been driving around Holland for the past few days getting used to Mario and having a blast. It's everything I hoped it would be. Details: 2009 Land Rover Defender D110 Tamar Blue (code 817) Trim: T (anyone know what this means?) Originally sold in Italy and imported to NL last year. 95k km on the clock. Any idea how I can get the options list for this rig? - What else should I know about this particular Defender that I might not? Last edited by Tig on 22nd Feb 2022 11:20pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Vin should work, try one of them vin decoder web sites to ensure it’s correct vin.
Sounds like you have a long trip ahead of you, enjoy. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing. 5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |

I got https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/vehicle/index to work with my VIN, but it's not showing any details.

Thanks, but still no joy. Any other ideas on how I can find out the options my rig has? Meanwhile, I've noted several bulbs in the HVAC console are out. I've found the howto thread... looks like the bulbs are the same as used in BMW E28's clusters. Given my plans to drive across Europe I'm considering additional security (e.g. security hinges). Is Defender-theft as prevalent in NL, DE, FR, SW, as it is in England? Still loving my decision to buy this beast. So. Much. Fun. Nice looking Mario. Based on the pictures, looks like an XS model to me, half leather seats, AC, heated seats........
I have entered my vin on this site, and is remarkably accurate. A bit difficult to read, but the info was there. https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Land%20Rover 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Regarding security, have a look at https://www.optimill-uk.com/security-parts.html
The removable steering wheel and boss cover is a great deterrent for thieves. To remove it without the key is going to take a lot of time and make a lot of noise. Security hinges reduce the chance of the doors and bonnet getting stolen. Sure these part are expensive but not as expensive as new doors or a new Defender. |
