I’ve read that it takes as little as 1-2 amp for the LEDs to glow. Which means that the circuit must have the slightest circuit flow going through.

I have exactly the same problem after replacing my normal bulbs with LEDs.
Could this be the answer? 2015 90 XS Station Wagon Puma 2.2 2015 Morgan Plus 4 |

1-2 milliamp. 1-2 Amp would represent a significant amount of heat and battery drain. The Interior Lights are controlled by a transistor rather than a relay, which is why they fade on and off, but does mean that there can be a tiny bit of leakage current in the off state. Varies from vehicle to vehicle and lamp to lamp. Mine don't glow |

Mine were strange stayed on dim. Took one out, remembering what end was on the left / right and put it back the other way and it all worked well with a nice bright light! 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

It depends on the quality of the LED's. I originally fitted some cheap ones and suffered the same low power glow. I replaced them with some better ones and the problem has gone.

I found the LED’s with SMD chips on a rectangular PCB to be best.
Those cylindrical ones with LED’s that are the traditional type are not great and are also very directional. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

I fund the MUD upgraded light units to be best, they turn night into day (and don't glow when they should be off).

I liked them so much I fitted two to my Defender Double Cab and three to my Disco 2.
All other cars' interior lights now seem dim and useless by comparison! |

Just to report that I have now tried the resistor between the contacts as shown in the video and it worked brilliantly (excuse pun).
I bought 20 resistors (0.25 watts/1000 ohms from eBay) for £1.24 including fast postage. 2015 90 XS Station Wagon Puma 2.2 2015 Morgan Plus 4 |

Just a word of caution for those puma owners with the ALM ( not 10AS) alarm modules fitted, generally 2012 onwards Puma’s, however some older Puma’s who’s 10AS was faulty and replaced with an ALM unit are covered by this as well.
Remotekey state “A problem with Defender 2012 onwards with the black unit fitted is they don’t function with LED interior lighting, we have had problems with the interior light circuit failing when LED’s are used” See very bottom of the page in this link https://remotekey.co.uk/land-rover-keys-re...larm-ecus/ |
