Accelerator dying

Hi all looking for for some help or pointers from you all , my 2009 90” 2.4 puma defender has started a problem of the accelerator dying on start up from cold ,engine starts fine but if you leave it ticking over all of a sudden the revs drop and the engine tick over is rough any movement of the accelerator has no response,so turn the engine off and restart and all is ok till you drive off and say change into 2nd or 3rd and the accelerator dies again so turn key off and restart and all is well again this will happen 3 or 4 times until the engine reaches working temperature then the problem seems to disappear,one other thing l had a similar problem a year ago but just removed the electrical plug on the accelerator and sprayed with electrical contact spray and that cured the problem but not this time . So any input would be gladly received.

How old is the VCV? Sounds a likely possibility unless it’s under 4 or 5 years old. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸
