F/S - Custom Made Double Cab Cage **SOLD**
FOR SALE

Custom Made Double Cab Cage:

I purchased this cage from Sonic to mount my roof tent, it does this very well. It also makes a double cab look the business, if I had a pound for every time someone wanted to talk to me about it when out and about I wouldn't need to sell it Laughing .

The thing is a beast! It is made from steel and has been powder coated - the cage is exceptionally rigid being mounted in each corner via 8 fixing points (8 HD A4 stainless bolts included). The powder coat is in good but not perfect condition being chipped in a few places most notably on the top of the main hoops through tent mounting - you don't however notice the marks unless you are on top of it looking for them! Tent mounting is easily achieved via the four welded brackets, two on each of the inner tops of the main hoops, you would need to fabricate additional brackets to achieve a strong, stable fit though dependent on tent if that was your purpose - I used two runs of thick section box ally to do this.

The picture shows two additional brackets sticking from the top of the rear hoop; these have been removed by carefully cutting with the resultant bare steel streak being hand painted. The scars are far from obvious when viewing the cage mounted on a truck, with my slight lift they were not visible at all.

There are also internal routes to the brackets so that the buyer could mount camp / work lights if so required.

It's a very tough decision to sell this on as it is so well made and is currently giving me excellent additional storage under my tent in the garage Laughing ). My initial plan was to keep it in case another DC ends up on the drive, this though is very unlikely as the next Defender would probably be a 110 SW, this therefore relegates the cage to very expensive ornament status so I want to see it go to a good home - it needs to be on a double cab on show, not hidden in my garage.

The cage disassembles so you don't need to fit it to collect it!

Points to note:

1, It will only fit a Double Cab
2, It will not take either OEM or after market wendy houses, if you wanted a cover then you would need to get one made.

PRICE: £325

Collection only.

Please note, the pictures below demonstrate the mounted cage, it is only the cage for sale.

It is perfectly suited to mounting a tent, it means your tub and the roof are kept free and you don't need a full length Double Cab rack. We had planned to mount a fox wing along the length of the truck using the feet of the patriot at the front and the cage main hoops at the rear....it would have needed further fabrication but it would have been perfect Big Cry

I'd buy that from you ... But I'm 2500km too far to colect it!

If nobody wants it, and if you could ship it, next month I'd buy it ! Thumbs Up Regards

Just did a very rough quote on UPS's website and you would be looking at about £250 / £300 shipping Shocked Rolling with laughter

For £650 I imagine you could commission your own locally. I am not one to turn down money but £300 shipping! Shocked Shocked

Thumbs Up

you need a freight forwarder not a parcel firm. Try Goodrem Nicholson at staverton airport, bet they would do it for under a ton.
