Do i remap after EGR blnk and decat/mid remove?
Hi all,

I've blanked the EGR and plan to remove the cat from the down pipe, and the centre silencer.

Do i get the engine remapped once the above work is done or do i wait until 6 months time when i can afford an allisport intercooler for it?

Who would you recommend do the remap if you were located in Gloucestershire?

Thanks in advance

Yes remap after doing your performance mods, otherwise you will have to remap twice.

As for remapers near you... Not sure I am afraid. Maybe Allisport can help as they are not far up the road from you.

Always best to wait until all mods are done before mapping.

Egrblank/downpipe wont make a huge difference to mapping but the intercooler will.

Are there any options that let you keep the egr? Our farm truck could do with some more oomph, however some of the places we go do have vosa check points so I’m committed to keeping it legal.

What have VOSA got to do with checking the EGR?

Tampering with emmisions...

Yeah, can be mapped with or without EGR. Again speak to Empire Tuning, he will map your car to what you want with your mods. Instagram @defender_ventures

Emissions check points are common at some of the agri events we go to, they check to see if there’s stuff removed like egrs or de cats, the inspectors aren’t stupid.

Well that’s worrying! What’s the repercussions if they find I’ve removed the EGR? I’ve not long had the vehicle so potential wasn’t me that done it 🤷‍♂️

A pretty impressive fine as ours is a commercial as part of the farm, it’s a far bigger fine than civilian ones i think.

I would look at Alive tuning, ATRIC device which you can do from home yourself. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸

On a td5 it's easy to disable the EGR without removing it. I don't think that even VOSA can check whether it works, just whether it's present.

The td5 EGR does restrict the intake slightly so removing it completely has minor performance advantages, but simply disabling it provides the bulk of the benefits and prolongs the life of the engine.

it wouldn't make any difference if remove those before or after a remap.
A Decat will let the system breath better, I did this my 306 HDI, all that did was let the turbo spool up quicker, and the engine rev better. EGR stuff, i never noticed a difference in performance, But that was due to the system working, but if its knackered, and you remove it. you will notice a difference. my 300 Tdi was really down on power for some reason, and it turned out to be a damaged EGR pipe. Binned the full smash off, and it was a totally difference motor. Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
