England 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
2 ltrs and f-pace
hi - just looking for some advice / thoughts that I can pass on regards the 2.0 ltr diesel.

a neighbour is looking to potentially buy either a defender or f-pace (new).
his first question was whether it was a psa engine used in both / either, but ultimately does they use the same engine and is it any good.

your thoughts greatly recieved. Thumbs Up

In the New Defender L663 the 4cylinder 2.0ltr diesel is Jaguar Land Rover’s Ingenium engine, same as the 3.0 but minus the 2 cylinder/1ltr of the MHEV 6’s. I would imagine the 2022 F-Pace is the same engine. The 2.0ltr diesels in Defender have been discontinued now for over a year but there is still a 4 cylinder petrol version (P300) available.
I have a D240 Defender with the 4 cylinder diesel and have no complaints - it’s miles better than the 4 cylinder version used in the early Disco5’s. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

damn!!!

I've just realised after reading your post - its the disco and f-pace he's considering Whistle oops
(thanks Tim)

so was the disco engine unreliable or just not great in terms of comparing it against other modern engines?

can anyone confirm if the disco and f-pace use the same engine?

cheers

I think the facelift Disco and Defender share the same 3 litre Diesel engines. I don't think there is a 2litre option anymore for the Discovery. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

DiscoSport also uses the Ingenium engines - has done for a couple of years, before New Defender had them. Basically DiscoSport has had them since the facelift in 2018 or 2019. Evoque also (in case you’ve messed up!) has Ingenium engines. I don’t know about most recent cars but certainly earlier post facelifted DIscoSport diesels suffered badly with oil diliution during DPF regnenning.
IIRC The only non JLR engines used in any LR car now are the BMW V8 coming in the next FFRR and the electric motors used in the IPace and the PHEV’s Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
