Brake servo
Evening gents, I’ve got a problem with my brakes, they’ve been pretty bad for a while and today they are virtually non existent, I have to put everything into the pedal to come to a gradual halt. I done the pedal test, press hard, turn car on and start and no change, the pedal is supposed to ease slightly on startup, nothing, I also removed the vacuum pipe and plenty of vacuum there, if I press my finger over the pipe I can heard the engine change tune, sounds like an aircon was being turned on, I put the pipe back onto the servo and the engine tone didn’t change, which leads me to think the servo is shot, any opinions on this?
And if the servo is leaking does anyone have experience on a suitable replacement, I see the LR ones are north of £400, then there’s the £180 ones, then the paddocks aftermarket which vary between £60-£120….

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Almost certainly servo cracked near to master cylinder mounting studs. With engine running spit near the mounting studs and watch the spit disappear.

TRW servos are good and we’re relatively cheap.

I think if you spray servo with thin oil, like WD40, it shows the cracks better.

Keep us informed.

Don’t really need to have a pic, 99.9% of failures are in the same place.
