Modern cars
Currently have a 20 plate Diesel Fiesta as a courtesy car, while my defender is in for some work.

This is the first car I've driven in over two years and the first modern supermini in maybe 7 years.

So while the bar maybe low (given I've only driven my defender and vans for over two years), I couldn't believe how comfortable, quiet and capable it is.

At motorway speeds it was brilliant and of course around town it's brilliant too, plus it's so easy to park and has used hardly any fuel!

My last "proper car" was a 2016 Merc 350 C-Class hybrid thing through work with air suspension and the Fiesta isn't a million miles away from the comfort levels of that.

Off on to autotrader now to stare at some Fiesta STs Laughing 2011 CSW XS 90

According to some websites I have seen recently the more recent Fiestas are the most stolen cars in the UK, leagues ahead of Defenders, so check on the insurance cost or requirements for additional security before committing to a buy! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Don’t forget to go onto eBay to get yourself one of those adidas baseball caps with the peak on the back and a big ol Kenwood food mixer graphic for the back window…… Whistle

I always quite liked Ken Block's Fiesta!

But you make a good point just how good even basic modern cars are.

During the couple of weeks in-between my last car (L322 range rover) and my current one (2014 110 CSW), there were a couple of times i needed to hire a car to keep mobile.

I had the pleasure of a Renault Captur and a Corsa. Neither really to my taste, and much to small to fit much in, but I can certainly agree that modern cars have really progressed a huge amount.

Miles and miles better than the base spec stuff from when I was younger.
