I welded up my half shafts a fair few years ago, they were starting to show wear and I was being a cheapskate and didn’t want to fork out for Ashcroft shafts - at the time the standard single piece ones weren’t available other than the old 300tdi era ones.
I ground the front face back all around, tacked in a few places whilst assembled in the axle before taking it off and turning up the current on the mig and welded them up. Have done probably 30k on them now, including giving them a lot of abuse and no sign of any further failure Edit, this was on a 90 so standard LR axle and not salisbury |

I may be wrong but when I was looking for single piece for my Salisbury the word on the streets we’re they don’t do them for the Salisbury.
I’ve now got a wolf HD rear axle but don’t need them now😂 |

That's the issue, lots of suppliers for the Puma diff, but none I've ever found for the salisbury... And despite it being a bit of an agricultural boat anchor, it's a pretty effective piece of kit!
