Same here, mine went on with no force at all.

You could try bolting the steering wheel to the boss and see if a little force and jiggling will get it started.

I had cause to remove and refit my boss today and was reminded that the splines are tapered and it was almost all the way on before feeling any resistance. With that in mind, if it won't even start on the spines properly then that suggests something wrong with the boss. Darren

Thanks for all the helpful responses on this. I tried (gently) the various suggestions for using force, but it was clearly not going to happen without damaging either or both parts.

Spoke to Optimill this morning and arranged to swap the part. Supplier also got in touch with me to check how things were. As is often said, the measure of businesses is their attitude when things go wrong, as inevitably things sometimes do. So far I can't fault either.

Update: received the replacement boss from Optimill this morning.

Like the factory steering wheel, the new boss dropped straight on, with a tiny bit of play until tightened down. Now enjoying my new steering wheel, and the reassurance of the swivel lock. Full marks to Optimill for such rapid assistance. I'll be encouraged to order their stuff in the future, knowing that support is so good.

As ever, thanks for all the helpful and interesting input.

Glad to hear you're set up now.

Just fitted their Swivel Lock "Docking Station" for the boss, good value for the price.

Great to hear it’s sorted. As well as the security benefits, I’m really liking a smaller steering wheel.
