Just been flashed up on my BBC News app notifications that he crossed the final finish line today at 79 years old after a short stay in hospital.

That’s very sad news, I used to work on his aircraft at Kiddlington but never got to meet him.

Very sad, i hope that they show the documentary film about him again soon. Well worth a watch.
Ironically i was watching the Bruce McLaren documentary that i had recorded recently when the message popped up on my phone. Two gentleman living life not just in the fast lane but also during a time that that not only will never be repeated but the hopes, dreams and personal innovations that they were blessed with is being taken away in the times we are living in today. The best thing i like is watching the sleeves rolled up, pen and paper, try it and see approach to engineering, not some engineer in smart trousers and pressed tea shirt working on a CAD drawing. The people aren't here but the names live on........ |
