What is going to be amusing is when the new car market corrects itself... how long that will take, who can predict!? However, it isn't normal to purchase a new Defender, put 12,000 miles on it and sell it after 12-months for £10k+ profit. Pre-covid, almost all new cars lost 20% the moment you drove them off the forecourt, the rare exceptions being Porsche GT models and niche, high demand/low supply, Ferraris, etc. As anyone who has owned a black car will tell you, they are a pain in the backside to keep looking great and the paint picks up marks worse than any other colour (I spent 2-hours trying to remove swirl marks/scars from bird droppings from my daughters city car, which has some black painted panels, yesterday) and silver/grey/gunmetal is a much safer, aka popular choice with the general buying public. Of course people who love black cars will argue this isn't the case and so be it, I've owned a black Defender and they look superb; however, worrying about resale in three years, to the extent of not purchasing the colour you want seems a bit pointless to me. If the corrects itself, the cost of the paint will be a minor drop in the ocean of depreciation. All imho |

PS - to add, I saw a new Santorini 110 yesterday, with Satin PPF on it, and it looked excellent, which surprised me because I normally don't like matt-looking black cars!
However, that does not help because my friend has a Carpathian X 110 and it also looks stunning! Furthermore, the PPF costs more than Carpathian, so if money is an issue, that really doesn't help the debate! |

Buy the colour you like, not what the next owner will like. That’s what I’ve always done.
My 90 isn’t the most desirable colour because everyone wants blacked out blinged up Defenders on massive wheels. But there are those that don’t, a rare colour combo may just make it that bit more attractive. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue |

Would have loved Carpathian - but its horrendously expensive - any idea why? Its just a dark grey metallic is it not? Now sold: 2023 Defender 90 D250 X-Dynamic SE (Eiger Grey).

Looks lovely but whats the special thing about it for the additional £1,000 it costs on top of the already expensive option price for metallic? Now sold: 2023 Defender 90 D250 X-Dynamic SE (Eiger Grey).
