Afternoon all,
Put the enigne and box together last night. Turns out I stripped/ damaged some threads to the crank shaft.... Oh well. 6/8 isn't too bad (fingers crossed I won't notice anything unbalanced.... Otherwise its comnig aapprt again lol). Unfortunately I had to do some fettling with the adaptor plate as the slave cylinder was fouling it. I reckon it's due to the slave being a non genuine chinesium part. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 4.0 V8 Defender 90 My Instagram |

Gearbox is mounted and engine is sitting roughly where I want it now.
Looks like I'm going to get away with the stadard brackets and LR rubber bushes. Nice and easy set up, just going to be a plate with a couple of holes in and it should be job done. Then after my holiday, spend the time wiring the car up again and then its off to get some manifolds and downpipes made. Looking good! I wish mine had been that close. I found there was a lot to be gained by gently lowering and raising and tweaking the engine hoist left and right. Small movements here and there made a big difference to the way the engine sat. Keep at it buddy and enjoy your holiday

Will do Tim
Did you manage to mount the engine central at all? Couple of people have mentioend that these actually sit to one side when using the R380 set up. There isn't any room to move the gearboxes left or right so I assume this is correct. 4.0 V8 Defender 90 My Instagram |

Looking at it from the front of the vehicle the engine sits to the right. The front prop wouldn't fit otherwise Look at my thread and you'll see the difference in size of the two engine mounts I cobbled together. I used the original Lexus bushes as they are specific to the engine but the engine is so smooth I reckon you'll be alright with the thinner looking Land Rover ones

Got the eninge in and mounted - will be finishing the mounts off soon with some slots and paint.
End of the month I'll porbably be ordering my gauges & electric fan. Got the task of wiring now which shouldn't be too bad as long as I haven't messed anything up. Certainly does Tim.
I'm keeping the AC compressor but unfortunately the car doesn't have the rest of the AC kit at the moment. I'm considering going for an aftermarket kit by Ministry of defenders. It appears to be a bit more of an robust kit compared to the idea of cobbling together second hand AC parts. Regarding noise all I have is first start up via the key: https://youtube.com/shorts/dVKEFvjiVAc?feature=share I'm getting there now. Just spent yesterday getting the electronics working again. 4.0 V8 Defender 90 My Instagram |

There has been a lot of work done but its all small tasks and tedious.
I don't really know what to upload, the next item I'm thinking of is a video of it starting with the ehxaust in place (One week or two). 4.0 V8 Defender 90 My Instagram |

Here are a few photos of things:
SC430 manifolds are near perfect, the RH flange needs a tickle as it’s fouling the slave cylinder The speedhut gauges are almost wired in completely, lost my temp sensor Fuel lines are in and not leaking, the fuel pump is set up with its relay now so I should be able to get enough flow now. The rest is boring stuff, electric fan to do still and then make my own setup for the exhaust from the manifolds to the centre “silencer”.
