2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 SVX Station Wagon Santorini Black

90: alternative wheels to Dotz Dakar/BFG AT KO2 265/75 r16

Dear all

For 1 year and about 10k kms I drive my 2007 Defender 90 with the rim/wheel combination
Dotz Dakar/BFG AT KO2 265/75 r16

…and I am not satisfied with the ride above 90 kmh, compared to the original alloy rims and AT General Grabbers. Even after multiple intents to balance the wheels, there remains a slight shake in the steering wheel when faster than about 100 km/h.

I read that there might me quality issues with both, the Dotz Dakar rims as well as the BFG tyres.
Did anyone have similar issues with a 90 Defender and/or proposal for solution, eg. alternative rim/tyre combo with same wider stance but less shaking?

Anybody… at all??!!

My suspicion is that the BFG tires are the culprits. Not sure if this is really the case, but if you google for balancing problems with tires on a defender 90, you often find posts about issues with BFG AT KO2. What would be a recommendation for all-terrain tires in this size similar to the BFGs (similarly good looking!)? I admit, I do not use the car a whole lot off-road.
