My daughter's 90 was down for some work. I took the opportunity of getting DRL lights fitted aswell as a master light switch as hers had burnt out. Got rid of the dash clock as she uses her phone. I had an ammeter fitted instead of the clock as it is more useful. Fuel gauge was erratic so the fuel sender was changed as the original was well worn.
She does over 300 miles a week so it is getting used. There are a few new dents in it since I last saw it plus lots of bush scrapes. She tows a horse box. It is well looked after but used..no fluffy dice or air fresheners in it. She has a tool kit and spanners, top up oil, coolant etc instead. She leaves her house at 7.00am and sees to her pony then it is college or some days lectures online. Then it is back to the pony in the evenings. That is why she got the 90 as her first car. Nothing else would suit. This Saturday she is away with the 90 with a friend of hers. They are bringing the pony and a horse to an event in the horse box. Yep well used is the word. I put a plastic mesh over the DRL's to stop them getting broken. That's a Voltmeter and would be wired between ignition live (white) via a fuse or the same supply as coolant / fuel gauge (green - already fused) and black to the bulkhead.
Voltmeter shows the system voltage with the ignition on. An ammeter is wired in series with a supply and may or may not use a shunt. The voltmeter is safer from an installation point of view (very little current passing through it) and probably more useful too. |

Thats a voltmeter not a ampmeter just needs a ignition live and earth plus illumination feed. Voltmeters read battery/alternator output voltage. Ampmeters show current load but can be dangerous on high load curcuits |

Immobiliser I think. It flashes when the vehicle is locked and the alarm button pressed. Like on the Puma. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Yep, immobiliser and, indirectly doors open too. Not sure if it illuminates on bonnet open as well but there is a bonnet state switch on the alarm/immobiliser system.

Regarding immobilisers. Our 2008 Puma was in for the annual road worthiness test last year. I was outside in the yard. The tester came out and said he could not move the Puma along the line as the immobiliser had kicked in.He was trying to drive it with the bonnet up and she refused to move. I just closed the bonnet and started her up. They do not know it all!!! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
