They hold the roof to the top of the windscreen frame.

Thanks 'Dorset' & Mo - that is the picture that I found, but I am not sure where they actually go.
Are these the bolts that hold the screen and roof together? I only have 2 and there are more than 2 bolt holes in the roof/screen. Should I have more of these? Has my careful bagging of parts gone wrong somewhere? |

The nutplates go into the oval openings in the forward section of the roof (above where the sun visors would be). The bolt go from bottom, through the windscreen frame, so the windscreen is fastened to the roof. You should have 6 sets in all. On newer Defenders, there should also be 2 self tappings, one on either side right at the corners. Earlier defenders had 2 M6 bolts at the corners. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Thanks for the pointers ... job done.
Not sure why I only have 2, but hey it is a Land Rover, anything is possible. Just replaced the others with in stainless nuts and bolts with penny washers. |
