Updating to Euro 6 or ULEZ compliant
I'm going to be putting a Lexus/ Toyota 4.3 UZ-FE V8 into my 06 90 and the donor cars are all already ULEZ (but Euro 4) compliant.

Could anyone please let me know of the process of what it would take to carry that info onto an updated log book.

I'm aware to register the swap there needs to be either a receipt for the converion and a few other options too.

I know JE have managed to provide cars with such compliancy and there are now a few defender running around and not being charged for it.

(I don't live in london or ever really go near it, just like the idea of eventually my noisy V8 ripping up and down there Rolling with laughter )

cheers. 4.0 V8 Defender 90

You can’t, is the simple answer.

DVLA don’t change V5C emissions details on an engine swap (as you might expect, given the same engine in a different car can have different levels of emissions - although I’m sure their reasons are more prosaic)

There’s no way to have an individual vehicle tested for compliance (unless it’s a motorbike, for whatever reason) - it has to be modified pursuant to the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme. This means going through a full testing process and is far beyond practical for a single vehicle - hence why the approved conversions for Puma Defenders cost a fortune.

If JE have actually gained TfL/DVLA certification without going through that process, it would be interesting to see how…

Thanks for replying,

Quite disappointing that is. I certainly am not that eager to have a ULEZ complaint defender for the expense of JEs conversions. As good as they may be.... 4.0 V8 Defender 90
