From what I've read, it's important it is done or could right off the engine. For 2012 out of warranty I'd get a quote from a local independent James

First of all, is it within the VIN range?
Q421 was a recall, ....so isn't it "still" a recall. If it were me, I'd be trying to get it done,...under the recall,....have a conversation with the Land Rover customer relations person available to you on this forum and see how you go? Pickles. |

I would contact LR customer services directly. Even if the quality recall has finished, then they may well authorise it anyway, especially if you've had a full LR Dealer service history on it. They know how many cars were in the given VIN range so they'll have budgeted for that many repairs.

I called a dealer this week after reading this to check mine had been done as it falls in the vin range given. I was clearly told that if it had been serviced at a dealer it will have been done as a matter of course. I pressed and was assured it had been done on 16th Jan last year. This was good news for me but the first reply was the interesting one for others who have had dealer services without the pump change being completed. Surely they have a duty to honour these things they should have done as part of the dealer service we pay through the nose for.

I purchased a Landrover in May 2015 from a dealer (Non Jaguar Landrover) and it turns out that the known defect of the engine oil pump had not been resoved. In the last 2 days the low oil pressure warning indicator has come on. I've had no joy going back via the Local Jaguar Ladnrover dealer or speaking to Jaguar Landrover UK directly. It doesn't have a full service history but I knew this when I purchased it form the dealer, however it has also been serviced. Any advice on how I can proceed?

Realistically start saving for a new engine, I doubt that you have any recourse whatsoever since no-one has told you that it has been done. You might, at a pinch, get a goodwill discount from Landrover if you are persuasive, but then you'd have to use a main dealer and pay main dealer prices for a new engine, which probably means it will still be more expense than a good independent.
Landrover is famously un-generous in these matters, and I doubt that you have any legal recourse. |

I had the misfortune of the oil pump failing on a French motorway at 70 mph - not fun!! The whole sorry saga has been covered already on this forum and as Blackwolf has said JLR make it very hard work to get any kind of compensation payment from them. After over a year of legal wrangling I did get them to pay for the new engine but only as the legal protection part of my insurance policy was willing to take them on!!
My very strong advice would be get the vehicle to a trusted independent garage and get them to change the pump asap. Personally I wouldn't even drive it there (assuming it does still drive?!) Mine oil pump failed five years ago now and the resulting replacement engine and turbo costs then were circa £7K....probably nearer £10K now. GO GET IT DONE. Harry |

Since recalls are related to safety issues, I'd contact the dealer. Any product sold should be safe. How could that contract be valid ? |

Blackwolf, do you know what the vin range affected are? Going to give LR a call later & see if ours has been done. |

Thanks Darren, just phoned LR & our 110 has no outstanding recalls. When I asked if it had been done they said it would show on the system which it didn’t so guessing it wasn’t in the Bach of affected vin numbers.
