I agree with the Disco 6 point too.
I had zero interest in the new defender, but I really like the idea of the PHEV. My last company car was a PHEV Mercedes C class which was ; 10 miles of range and would take a couple of hours to charge, so was pointless IMO. But 20 miles of range and can be charged in 30 mins makes a lot of sense. I drive from Bristol to London semi regularly and the ability to drive through Bristol on EV only, motorway on the engine and then stop for a coffee / rapid charge the battery before entering London would be great. They will charge themselves of course, but in my Merc, this ruined the fuel economy. 2011 CSW XS 90 |

Trying the BMW X545E out at the end of October. Good hybrid combination with 50mile battery range and a straight 6 engine

Only advantage I can see of the V8 over the PHEV is delivery time……….. PHEVs appear to be taking for ever to come on stream but buying the biggest profit margin version in the V8 gets you to the top of the waiting list for a build slot!
Harry Metcalfe has a video of his test of the X5 45 PHEV. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Had two X5s in the past but prefered my 90XS, and adored my D3 V8 . I was hoping that the P400 was going to be the best of both the 90 and the D3.
Sold a PHEV (Outlander) when we ordered the P400 and we have a Toyota CH-R hybrid for the Wife's communte. If we go the X5 route this becomes redundant (would have stayed with the P400). Currently have a redundant charging point on the house |
