Anybody done rear door strut mod?
As title, anybody done their own? Do you have the strut spec please?
One shoot that we go to, the door won’t stay open because of how the car park is, it drives us mad.

I did the mod for the same reason and it works. However, it makes it difficult to close the door from the inside. If you’ve got plenty of more senior gents in your shoot like we do, you find yourself having to shut them in, which is a bit of a chew but provides plenty of comedy! I ended up taking mine off again because it’s was more of an inconvenience.

No photos but I have the version 2, it works well and stops the door closing on you all the time, however it opens quite enthusiastically so you need to learn to hold it as it opens.

I wont be removing it as I like it but its not perfect and a latched open system would probably be a better solution than the ram DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

I had made my own contraption on my 90, very similar to what is discussed in this thread:
https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic6886.html

What I had done differently is that I fabricated a bracket that bolts on the original 2 holes on the tub that extend forward for the forward mounting point of the gas strut. Then another bracket that bolts on the lower hinge bolts. This way, the door can open a bit further out.. just enough that a 7.50R16 tyre I was running at that time would not hit the tub when fully open.

Probably I know where the parts are laying at the moment, as the 90 is still not together again.. if I find them I will post a couple of pics. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
