My question is why? The D250 has more than enough poke and get up and go. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

Wait until your warranty has expired. Should only be 1 year still, unless you have extended it.

Good question, as Land Rover offer the choice of D250 and D300 there must be a market each of them. When I was looking to order mine I test drove both, in the end I ordered the D300 |

I drove both and ordered the D250. I tow and drive my car hard and have never felt I needed the extra power. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

I don’t think there’s a right or wrong choice, both the D250 and D300 are great options. Considering what you say about not feeling the need for the extra power the D250 sounds perfect for you, but for me I chose the D300

It just shows how subjective engine power is.
I test drove several Defenders and ended up with the V8. All the other engines lacked power in my opinion. |

Why will depend on what your accustomed to.
I am yet to map a vehicle and not found it more efficient on fuel. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

lf you get your D250 remapped be sure to come back on here and report on what difference it makes, and whether it's worthwhile.
I test drove the D200 90 Commercial and it felt great, so l ordered that one. JLR then deleted the D200 and l had to pay £3,000 more for effectively different software to produce a D250. Even the salesperson admitted it cost JLR "no more" to produce. The D250 is awesome, even when towing the caravan up a steep hill fully loaded with our boat and outboard motor plus bikes and everything else it never feels wanting for power output. The RPM rarely exceeds 2,500 and l've never had my foot to the floor on the gas pedal. |

Yesss I am just trying to make the point, that it doesn‘t matter what other people think or experience. Engine power is totally subjective and one should testdrive in order to make a decision. |

There are a few companies that offer the genuine JLR software D300 upgrade, some of which are now able to do remotely. No affiliation but Venture Automotive being one I've seen advertised recently

Initially the Defender came with D200 and D240 options.
These were both 2.0 four cylinder diesels. These engines were soon replaced by the 3.0 six cylinder. ln the 90 Commercial this was provided in a 200bhp tune with no option to upgrade. ln 110 Commercial you could specify the D200, or D250 at an extra £3,000 JLR probably saw a way to make more money by deleting the D200 in the 90 and making buyers pay £3,000 extra for the D250. At the time there was an 18 month waiting list for the Commercial so JLR didn't mind losing a few customers who didn't want to pay the extra. This was done to me, l ordered a D200 but received an email saying l had to have the D250 or my deposit back. The price then increased by a further £4,000 meaning the vehicle cost me £7,000 more than l signed for on the order. At least Ineos honoured the price for those who placed a deposit before their £10,000+ price increase. |
