Turners for me too. Did my 300Tdi about a year and a half ago - delighted with it, and the peace of mind it brings to know that it was a reputable company behind the work. Donald

Yup Turners is a strong company, had a 300 Tdi done by them but never really got to drive it as it was stolen after the 500 mile break in! Inside job ?
Donald how much was your rebuild approximately and what was included? Did you fit new injectors/pistons etc? |

The first Turners rebuild in mine (under a previous owner) threw a rod after ~2000 miles and was replaced under warranty.
The second Turners rebuild (that was in the car when I bought it) threw it's timing chain out the window after ~20000 miles, but due to time wasn't covered under warranty. |

if you rebuild it, I'd ask for all the journals and bore diameters to be measured properly i.e blueprinted as a report for the engine on delivery.
I asked for this and never got it although it was agreed and the engine is consuming oil which suggests the oil is passing the rings. My next job is to measure the bores for size and see if its in spec with the +10 oversize pistons. I don't think they will be. That being said you can do it yourself by sending the block out with a signed contract of your requirements and if its not they can argue the toss in a small claims court. I wish i had done this. |

Turner's built an engine for me a few years ago (2.25 petrol). Yes there was a minor issue (crank seal nipped and leaking) - but the aftersales was phenomenal.
They paid to have a local specialist remove the engine, sent it to them, fixed and refitted complete with a new clutch. Couldn't believe it - I didn't pay a penny. I could have done it myself but I had just given up my workshop where I built the truck and after explaining this they sorted everything. Sometimes its not just the product to consider but also the aftersales. Can't guarantee anyone else would get this from them again - its definitely outside their warranty guarantee, might have just caught them on a good day. |
