Very sadly for personal reasons I’m having to sell my 90.
Typically I’ve just finished it but that’s life I guess.
I will do some better photos at the weekend when I get home but there are a few I took a couple of weeks ago in this post.
The number plate will not be staying with the 90.
I’ve just done a list of the work done to it but I will add anything I have forgotten as there is rather a lot !!

Mechanicals,
new brake lines, new drop links, refurbished fuel cooler, new radiator (genuine) plus rouse silicone motorsport hoses. New injection loom, new Bas performance intercooler and silicone hoses reconditioned transfer box, new clutch and Loff soft Springs. New bespoke Lowered sports springs with new Koni adjustable shocks. uprated fuel pump, all suspension bushes replaced. New genuine mudflaps front snd rear.
New stainless steel Demand engineering t304 grade performance exhaust and decat with dummy shell. The EGR has been removed as well. The car was fully serviced including all filters and axle oils 3 months ago and then set up on a rolling road by TD5 Inside and runs around 190 bhp.

Body
The roof and screen was removed and all of the body cappings were replaced with new ones, the seals were all replaced including the windscreen.
The doors were removed and the door bottoms had all of the channels replaced and were put back together with new membranes and new genuine hinges. All of the external nuts and bolts have been replaced with stainless steel. The whole of the car has been stripped and all oxidation removed then etch primed and repainted two tone black over Epsom metallic green.
The checker plate was taken off and repainted gloss black and re Installed. The grills light surrounds and door mirrors have all been painted gloss black. The lights have all been replaced with LED units including the headlights and reverse/fog lights.
The wheels are 17” JE Engineering bespoke defender wheels which were £2k and they have general Grabber AT2’s all terrains on them which I also had painted gloss black. There is a Nakatenenga snow cowl fitted to a cleaned out and refurbished heater box.
The chassis is excellent and has been booked in this week to be sandblasted, enamelled and cavity wax treated (Dynatrol)

Interior

The interior was completely stripped and sound proofed using “Silent Coat” then a layer of closed cell foam.
The ceiling was silent coated then treated with acoustic foam. The headlining was covered in grey waterproof material and the load area was trimmed to match. The seating floor was soundproofed and then has a genuine Landrover acoustic rubber flooring layer over the top. It has a Momo Nero steering wheel and boss which gives more elbow room. The bulkhead was reduced with a Mud rail which allows the seats to go back further. There are mud rail leg room extenders.I fitted a cubby box with a raised lid to give better arm support. I then bought some new Recaro LX seats which are period correct and have adjustable low bases for thigh support and were huge money.
As it’s a hard top it is a fully commercial vehicle for tax purposes. The sides of the hard top have been fully insulated and are internally fitted with mud panels. The rear door has a new Masai organiser with pockets for tools etc.

The mileage is 112k and it is mot’d until mid December. I will put 12 months not on it if required. It has only ever failed one MOT and that was on a split ball joint cover and wipers not clearing the screen. It has two keys and a pile of invoices. The 90 was serviced by a main dealer every year up until 2019.

It owes me stupid money but as it’s such a nice solid no rust 90 I thought I would ask £19995 and see what happens!
Please ask any questions you need to
Thanks for looking Jez

Is it too expensive at that?
Values are all over the place and it’s difficult to judge. I could always take the wheels and seats out and put it back to standard and reduce the price.
Seams a shame though!!

Great looking 90! I suspect value is really down to how quick you want to sell it, but not unreasonable.

I'd love the seats but at not huge money Embarassed Big Cry James

If someone bought a doer-up they would easily spend much more to get it tidy, so I don’t think your’e far off with the value.

We’ve been selling off some old BT/Openreach snotters at the auctions and they are fetching near to this all day long. (obviously with the vat) Ride like you stole it!!
If I’m not on a bike it’s because only a 4x4 will do…

Firstly it looks great Thumbs Up

I think a couple of things...

For me I would take it to a field or somewhere open and take some good pictures, side, front, back, engine, interior, seats and wheels etc.. Make the pictures look as good as you can. Even some of all the paper work and keys etc It all adds to the prospected owner looking at it that you have looked after it.

Price wise its so difficult, a person just looking for a Landrover with little knowledge will simply think 2003 for £20K... wow ! but we know if you buy the same knocked about truck for £12K then your soon spending big bucks to get it looking like yours..

Puma's and newer ones are probably within reach so yours advert needs to pop out.

As a guide you could after doing the above post an e-bay add, as many details and pictures as possible and put a reserve at the £19,995 you then list it at a start price of £14K say and see what happens??

The market is all over the place, I see ones like mind going for £8K more than I paid 5 years ago, but then others newer for what I think are a good price? very odd.

Your other option would be as you say... Put some steel wheels and normal seats in and sell these for a few grand? So you could accept less? however the whole package as it is looks the part Smile

Good luck I think its just a matter of finding someone who appreciates the work you have done and understands the value.

Thumbs Up

Many thanks for the suggestions.

I’m back at the weekend so will take better photos as I’m not in it at the moment.

I had everything done properly to it and it was going to be a keeper, unfortunately I’m self employed and a number of my clients have gone into liquidation owing me money, hence the sale.

I think eBay and Autotrader are the way forward as I guess most people on here already have defenders😂

Thanks again

Jez

I've sold a couple of our Defenders on CAR&CLASSIC website, they sold very quickly and for top money.
Seems to have a good cliental, with a variety of "serious buyers" on there imo. Thumbs Up 04' 90 Td5 CSW..

Offers?
I really need some cash at the moment due to personal circumstances.

I’d take an offer on my 90 to a forum member.
Please pm me if you are interested.

Best regards

Jez
