Thought this was moving along at enough pace to warrant it's own thread, and after a couple of searches came up blank, thought I'd start one.
So following on from:
posted in the BEV Defender thread, more news: Click image to enlarge Extreme E will be streamed on the BBC. "The all-electric off-road championship will be shown on the BBC’s digital platforms It’d be fair to say that Extreme E has piqued our attention. Any race series that promises big-name drivers, picturesque locations and JUMPS certainly should. And then there are the wackier ideas – the paddock for example, which will travel to each of the five extreme race locations aboard the former Royal Mail ship St Helena. Wild. Good news then, because the BBC has announced a multi-year partnership with the new sport’s organisers which will see every race streamed live and free across the BBC digital platforms. We’re intrigued to see how all of this pans out. There’s potentially a hefty Brit interest in the series too. Veloce Racing is a UK-based team with ex-F1 mastermind Adrian Newey on board, and both Jamie Chadwick and Billy Monger have enrolled in the Drivers’ Programme with the hope of securing a seat. The inaugural event will take place in Dakar, Senegal in January 2021. Will you be watching, Internet?" https://www.topgear.com/car-news/electric/...reamed-bbc |

That's some chassis
Click image to enlarge Extreme E (@ExtremeELive) Tweeted: CHASSIS #1! The first ODYSSEY 21 chassis has arrived at @SparkRacingTech in France, ready to start production for the teams! The tubular frame is a @CBMMniobium-reinforced steel alloy to handle the extreme environments that each car will have to tackle. #ExtremeE https://t.co/NQFANPQNLZ https://twitter.com/ExtremeELive/status/1281253090491015168?s=20 |

Yes and no ~ "Spark Racing Technology designs and constructs a common framework with stringent specification parts. They then hand over the approved chassis to each team, who are then free to test and build a custom powertrain and bodywork on this platform. The areas eligible for individual team development are the motor, inverter and select parts of the exterior bodywork (e.g. the engine cover, side skirt, lights, front and rear bumpers). The batteries will be compatible with Formula E-specification motors and produce a maximum power output of 470 kW (equivalent to approx. 630 bhp). But this new battery is specially customised for the rigours of off-road racing, made to withstand extreme environments, road conditions and terrains." [/url] |

In bed watching it with my first hangover in about 12months. Loving it. Like watching a sci fi film. https://instagram.com/bentheoandrews

Seriously impressive cars, they can really take a hammering. Claudia Hurtgen's roll was spectacular. Thank goodness she came out unscathed. WARNING.

Great idea for a series - makes F1 look a little dull.

Just watched it on BT Sport. It was an extremely tedious 3 races. Beautiful location, though. And as for eco element? Hypocritical virtue signalling at its best. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Each to their own, I really enjoyed it. Anyone expecting really close racing was bound to be disappointed due to the sand chucked up but I liked the format, the cars were great and the driver skill exceptional. I also think the best drivers over the weekend won. I reckon the less dusty races will be spectacular. WARNING.

Just don't get it. The dust just killed any racing. If you didn't get to the first corner first your race was done. Even F1 isn't that bad. Hoping other courses will be less dusty. Driver swap is pointless too. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
