Rear axle/diff. Does it have a gasket?
None of the drawing I have in the workshop manual have a gasket, and it talks of just using RTV sealant. However, I have seen genuine LR Diff paper gaskets for all axles. I’m swapping the diff this weekend, should I be fitting one?

Gasket was stopped being used in the 80’s. Decent RTV sealant is better

They are only pennies, so I’ve ordered one. If there is one fitted when I remove it I’ll fit a new one. If not I’ll use Hylosil.

Cheers

Be interested to hear how the fit went and the subsequent driving experience. Rgds.

There should not be a gasket on a TDCi, use Hylosil and do the job properly.
