United Kingdom 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 CSW Zermatt Silver
Defender Puma 2.4 Brake Pipes
Well I took the plunge today and started replacing the full set of brake pipes.
I have been working through a list of MOT advisories as well as doing a few of the bits I wanted.
MOT - All steering ball joints, A frame ball joint (all done) and now the brake pipes.
After lots of questions backwards and forwards, I found someone on eBay to build a set to my measurements.
I have replaced both rear left and right and the front to rear so far. Doing the rest tomorrow.
Not easy at all. I tried bend the pipes with a set of pipe pliers but they aren’t so good - so have returned to bending by hand or around a wooded file handle clamped in my work mate. Have fitted an OEM T-Piece and also using stainless steel flexi pipes.
Tried taking photos, but they don’t make a lot of sense.
The the front to rear pipe, I found it easier to shape the section down the bulk head, then drop it through from above the engine and pull it / bend it along the chassis to the rear.
Will add more info tomorrow.
