The Mini Moke is back, and it's British to the core...Look, it even has a Union Jack on it.
Oh, except the pics show it as left-hand drive and it will be assembled in France. https://www.classicandsportscar.com/news/moke-back Oh, dear. Now left. |

To me, at my age, it will always remind me of The Prisoner. I'm just so disappointed that it's not being true to its British roots. There are some vehicles that should never be built anywhere else but their home country. I can't imagine a French reconstruction of the Citroen 2CV being built in England. It just wouldn't be right - and then for the company to show the 2CV in right-hand drive on its French website. It wouldn't happen, ever. The French would be revolting over it - and rightly, for the first time.
There are some things I hold in life as unacceptable, and this is one. A Jeep wouldn't be built anywhere else than the US, a Ferrari anywhere else than Maranello. I can't accept the Defender being built in Slovakia. Yes, I know cars are international, but the Jeep and the Ferrari thing above is true. A Mini Moke is British...or was (and yes, I know who designed it - I'm 62, the same age as the Mini. Fed up Now left. |

Many will argue with you, What puddle?, but I have to agree with you completely. I am also disappointed the Jim is producing his all British Grenadier in France. It is what it is. |

Think I said the same thing last time the Moke got a mention on the forum. If I had a spare £20k and was in the market for one, then I would be buying the real thing rather than the modern day pastiche.
A nice looking 1968 one here for £17.5k and with at least one common Landie part in the form of what looks to be a series II wiper motor. https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1365497 |

Well I have good news. I complained, and they've just told me that production has just been relocated to Northampton (when I say 'just' I don't mean as a result of my complaint ).
The salesman in Poole (seems like a decent bloke) mentioned the Defender and Grenadier not being built here! Now left. |

Me and one of my work buddies at work, who has a passion of classic cars like me, we talked about this, and he said that a nurse down his street, still goes to work in an original Moke. He said the originals must be worth a bomb now, i agreed, and i also told him that a company was making the ford mk2 escort again too. But at a heavy price though, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Aren’t some Jeeps built in Italy? Some models are basically Fiats. WARNING. This post may contain sarcasm. |

Sorry, should have made it clear I was talking about the Wrangler (built in Toledo, as far as I remember - I watched an assembly video a while back). I think Jeep make their other cars at various places, but I don't know. Now left.

They do a mk1 shell too, id have thought it would have the larger wheels too, to fill the arches, if i am right, that's why these had the wider arches for the wider tyres, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

I know JEEP was bought out by fiat some years ago, so it wouldn't surprise me about them been basically just a fiat in drag. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |
