Just bought a brand new genuine parts NAS step (wow haven’t they got expensive !) and want to increase its longevity before installing, what’s the best product to use these days ?

I bought a 'good quality' TUV one from a well known specialist for my very low miles, garage queen and even though it was repeatedly dosed with cavity wax, etc prior to installation it lasted about 6months before showing signs of rust around welds, etc............
after basically being fobbed off by the so called specialist (they all do that sir!!) I had my local guys source a nearly new one that has then been fully stripped, galvanized and coated - just need to find some time to swap them out and then the "old" one is getting the same treatment at which point it will likely be up for sale

think the guys were happy to provide a 'restoration' surface on-going......

As 90 Dreamer suggests, the only real solution is to get them galvanised. Generally, they're just a terrible design that seems to trap water everywhere. Darren

just to add I had also drilled small 'drains' at the obvious water traps and to ensure that there was good internal coverage
