My local dealer did a 12m service and it cost me £400 ish. That included the "power flush" thing they flog with the oil change. That was around £50 IIRC.
It was higher than I was expecting and I've resolved to find an independent to do services once we're out of warranty. |

you don't have to go with a Landrover dealer for a service whilst under warrantee. As long as you use genuine Landrover parts....You can go with anyone.

I just realised that it has been 1 year since I bought my Demo model defender so I asked them to do the anual service.
Dealer tells me I am 1 month and a few days overdue as the "birth" date to the purchase dealer in Bloemfontein was 2 Jan 08 so I have to pay a hefty "fine" to keep my warenty. I argued that the service book states 12months with 1 month grace either way on "date of sale". - needless to say they told me to complain to the dealer I bought it from. He also stated that they never filled in the required info in the service book nor did they explain to me the conditions relating to servicing as well as a place I was supposed to sign in the service book stating that I had accepted these conditions. I have taken it up with LR south africa and they will take it up with the dealer in Bloem. I am also off that when they replaced my sump they told me they put in new oil but now they said they put the old oil back and I must change the oil again - I think they because I am pretty sure they oil looked new when the new sump was fitted. These dealers are all a bunch of liars Puma 110 - gone Series III 1973 - going strong |

Shop them to land rover - the new sump comes with new oil fitted under warranty!! I had my service done in October last year 4 1/2 months early. I dont know if i was right - but i didnt want Tax, insurance, service due (it also happens that i seem to buy cars in February) so i get a heavy hit Jan - March (january because i messed up taxing a car about 3/4yrs ago) Ive seen cars months or miles over and under (mine was under) and the dealer doesnt care (as long as your not taking the wee wee) It does mean in affect i have done myself out of 1/2yr free service, but it also means any manufacturing issues can be taken out in the service (which they did) such as the sump and oil Mike |
