Mantec Plastic Jobby or Safari raised intake?
Hi All,

I am wanting to get a raised air intake, However other than looks is there any advantage to one over the other?

Thinking ease of fitting, quality, performance etc

Reason for wanting one is mainly looks but like the extra wadding ability that they give you.

Many Thanks,

Graham

You don’t get any extra wading ability from a snorkel without altering the intake pipe work and air-box. They are leaky as hell. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I took my Safari one off as it kept filling up with water as it never seals that well to the wing that well and the pipe work was that easy to seal and was a pain to keep seated.

An alternative to Mantec or Safari, which are adequate (just) as RAIs, would be to fit a good one such as Nakatanenga. This will generally also replace the woefully inadequate, restrictive, and leaky inlet duct and leaves only the airbox to seal. More expensive, undoubtedly, but better value overall.

I have had the OEM Mantec on mine from the factory, going on 21 years now. It can easily be sealed up and I regularly use it in water over the bonnet. It is quite robust in spite of it looking flimsy Thumbs Up
