Indicator relay stays solid randomly
Hi all,

Could you help me work out if this is normal and whether its an earthing issue or a failed relay?

Issue is hazards/indicators, part way through most journeys, the relay stops flashing and just goes to solid on when you either turn on the hazards or the indicators. They function normally apart from not flashing.

Feels like a relay problem to me - if it were earthing they would either not function, or turn the wipers on whenever you indicated right!! (joke i promise). Rolling with laughter

After keying off for about 20 minutes, the relay "resets" and returns to normal functionality. But keying off and waiting only 10 seconds doesn't reset it.

Is this common?

Both sides a problem?

If so I would swap out the flasher relay with another as a first step.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Yep, both sides exactly the same. It's like it's lost its capability of flashing but "indicates" left, and right, and hazards, all correctly and with lamps lit, but not flashing.

Will swap it out and see what happens. Cheers Martin. Thumbs Up
