Jaguar going upmarket!!!
Just can't believe this, but JLR announced today that Jaguar is to go up-market and take on Porsche and Bentley. Shocked

They admit they couldn't compete with Audi and BMW, so they are sorting their reliability (which they admit have cost them 100,000 sales) and are going after an upmarket image with prices starting from $140,000

Have I entered another universe? I just can't make up my mind which is the crazier news story today: that, or the news that M&S are releasing George Floyd-inspired underwear. Yes, seriously. Both news stories are equally bizarre and very funny.

Nope, just can't make up my mind which news story is the more stupid. Now left.

Mark, I'm 62. I realised about 20 years ago that most of the world is mad - it's the only explanation for 75% of what is happening...climate change, wokism, BLM, management of companies, pop songs, television, social media, BBC, trans, covid, Eddie Izzard... Now, it really makes me laugh. I quite honestly find great humour in the absurdity of so many things. It's far better than a BBC comedy. I know people get very mad and sad about much stuff. But if you find it funny, it seriously helps. And I really think both those news stories are hugely crazy, but seriously funny.

Are we therefore seeing the end of Jaguar as a company? Has Jaguar just signed its own suicide note? Now left.

Just my take on it, but if I was in the market for either a Porsche or a Bentley, I am afraid that a Jaguar would not be on my shopping list. I really like the F Type, and I expect that it will be this style of car that they would challenge Porsche with, but I would still choose the Porsche.

I seem to see some perverse similarity between JLR and M&S.

Take an amazing brand
Change your products to chase after a type of customer who are not much interested in your product
Alienate your loyal customers
Reduce your customer service and quality
Constantly try to reinvent yourself by installing a new Boss every few years promising something new and exciting
Watch the business shrink

I'm after some new pants. Thought I would share that Shocked

I think you got to pity them rather than anything which is pretty funny. Rolling with laughter

I think Jaguar ruined itself with the culture based analogy of “buy dad a Jag”.

Rest assured it isn’t just older folks who feel the same. Thumbs Up No Guts, No Glory.
