Steering issues
Hi all just changed drag link and track rod plus steering damper set all to recomended lengths centered steering then adjusted drag linkto set
Steering straight went for test drive she steers straight but steering now feels stiff and has poorer return to centre its hard to judge as there waa fair bit of play before as all ball joints were shot don't want to adjust steering box as was OK before have I missed somethingalso noticed lock to
Lock is two fuul turns one way one and a half other way is this normal any advice appreciated Endeavour To Persevere

The steering box has not been setup centered when the drag link was connected, hence the difference in turns to each lock.

Remove drag link at drop arm end.

Drop arm should point fwd with centre line through tre hole or balljoint being inline with the inside vertical face of the chassis rail. There is also an alignment slot at the back of the drop arm that aligns with a hole.in the bottom of the box.

Once drop arm is aligned fwd, as above, which is not straight fwd from memory as in parallel to chassis rails but is straight fwd rather than straight fwd to do!

Then refit drag link so passenger wheel is straight fwd, a flat edge on the disc, wheel off, can aid this. Then set tracking. Cheers

This could also be why return to centre is out but I don't think so. Once done above and sorted the centre run it without damper and see what return to centre is like. You haven't changed suspension or done any swivel work at the same time have you. Cheers

Steering contiued
So started again drag link of alligned steering box with bolt on hole adjusted drag link to suit then just halfturn to set wheels even steering wheel was centre but steering feels heavier than before with little return to centre if I turn left and release steering wheel it holds position not as bad at
Higher speed can't see whare I might have gone wrong have removed new damper it was an all make one will test drive to see if improved Endeavour To Persevere
