NEW DEFENDER SECURITY
Naturally we hear of Land Rovers poor security record .
However what are members views / comments or experiences regarding the NEW DEFENDER ..
So for example — are steering locks required as indicated on some reviews ?
All comments appreciated.

in some extreme cases there has been reports of forced break ins (luxury brands) even when families have been at home to get the keys.

if you are concerned think cameras, more than one.

Physical deterrents are fine for the clued up criminals with a lap top, but the threat of violence is something else.

and then of cause you have car jacking such as that lady in the news recently with the Alfa Romeo.

The daughter of my wife's work colleague had her RRS stolen from her driveway three weeks ago by a group of three men in a van (Staines).

The police, after the event, followed them on CCTV footage to an industrial estate and saw them remove the LR tracker and dump it in the road. They gave her a crime number and closed the case.

It might be worth getting a second tracker installed elsewhere in the vehicle such as a Skytag.

Unfortunately these days the police don't care because the judges don't care because its for the insurance companies to deal with. And they don't care because they will just put your premiums up when you replace the vehicle.

All you can do is the best you can.

Forgot to mention

Avoid valet parking. A number of the early cases of RR thefts in London were thought to have this a common theme.

Ie the valet 'parks it'. Someone else with a laptop clones the key and gets the home address from the sat nav (don't have your actual address stored on the sat nav)

When there is a 'buyer' for say a red RRS they then know where to get one.
